On May 27, 2024, a celebration event was held at the Republican Children's Library with the participation of first-grade students from the 7th Music School named after Huseynqulu Sarabski. The event was organized on the occasion of "May 28 – Independence Day," and students from the 8th Secondary School also attended as guests.
The event began with the national anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, followed by a one-minute silence to honor the souls of the heroic sons who gave their lives for the homeland. Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs, Zahira Dadashova, officially opened the event and, in her speech, emphasized that since the restoration of our independence, this holiday has been celebrated with great pride each year, and that this significant historical and socio-political event holds an important place in our national memory.
Accompanied by their teachers, the students performed various musical pieces on different instruments, including U. Hajibeyov's "Chirpinirdi Gara Deniz" ("The Black Sea was Rippling"), F. Amirov's "Cheshme Bashinda" ("At the Fountain"), Mozart's "Rondo," M. Nasirbeyov's "Song," A. Rzayevna's "Decel Buzovum" ("My Playful Calf"), R. Hajiyev's "Azerbaycanim" ("My Azerbaijan"), and other musical works.
Republic Day is one of the most glorious and significant pages in our history. On May 28, 1918, the establishment of the Azerbaijan People's Republic became a monumental event in the life of our country. The Azerbaijan People's Republic, which set the goal of establishing an independent, free, and democratic republic, restored the national consciousness of the people and demonstrated their ability to determine their own destiny during its brief 23-month existence. As seen in the Declaration of Independence adopted on May 28, 1918, this remarkable date further strengthened the feelings of independence among our people.
