Ilyas Afandiyev is one of the prominent figures who made exceptional contributions to the development of Azerbaijani dramaturgy. Although he began his creative career with prose, he later gained fame as a playwright. The development of the lyrical-psychological style in Azerbaijani drama is largely attributed to the works of this artist. Most of Ilyas Afandiyev’s plays were staged with great success and played a significant role in the development of Azerbaijani theater.
The great artist, who had a rich creative journey, passed away on October 3, 1996, in Baku and was buried in the Alley of Honor.
In honor of the 110th anniversary of Ilyas Afandiyev, a prominent representative of 20th-century Azerbaijani literature, State Prize laureate, and People's Writer, the Information and Bibliography Department of the Republican Children's Library has prepared a digest containing a full-text bibliographic list of books and periodical materials about the writer.
