Salman Mumtaz, a great citizen, tireless researcher, and virtuous person, is one of the figures who has brought honor to his homeland and nation through his work.
From a young age, Salman Mumtaz showed a great interest in science. He studied in Ashgabat, where he also learned Persian and Arabic. He prepared the works of Imadeddin Nesimi, Qovsi Tabrizi, Molla Penah Vaqif, Qasim bey Zakir, Mirze Shefi Vazeh, and other Azerbaijani classical writers for publication and published examples of Azerbaijani ashik poetry in two volumes in 1927-1928.
Salman Mumtaz has valuable writings on the history of our country. Many ancient decrees and valuable historical documents that he discovered and brought to light are preserved at the Manuscripts Institute. In addition, his research covers not only Azerbaijani literature but also Eastern classics. Salman Mumtaz did not limit himself to collecting and researching our literary heritage, but also promoted it widely. Over the course of 23 years, he published 20 books.
During the years 1937–1938, like thousands of other intellectuals in Azerbaijan, Salman Mumtaz became a victim of repression. In 1941, he was executed as a political prisoner.
On the occasion of the 140th anniversary of Azerbaijani poet, literary scholar, textologist, and bibliographer Salman Mumtaz, the Republic Children's Library named after F.
