On May 13, 2024, a presentation event was held at the Republican Children's Library named after F. Kocharli for the 4th-year students of the Department of Regional Studies at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Baku State University (BSU), who are undergoing industrial practice.
The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies at BSU, Associate Professor Aydan Xandan, Head of the Arabic Philology Department, Associate Professor Vuqar Qaradaghlı, PhD in Philology Mehman Tarverdiyev, Chief Expert of the M. Fuzuli Institute of Manuscripts of ANAS, Mustafa Aliyev, Head of the International Cooperation, Translation, and Public Relations Department at the Archive of Public and Political Documents of the President's Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan, PhD in Philology Shahla Abdullayeva, as well as the students and library staff.
The Director of the Library, Honored Cultural Worker Shahla Qambarova, greeted the guests and opened the event. In her speech, the Director emphasized that the students participating in the industrial practice are presenting their extensive, informative, and annotated research, translated from 300 Arabic and Persian children's literature books from Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Tunisia, Iraq, Jordan, and Iran, which are part of the library's foreign literature collection.
The students of the faculty, Muhammadali Axundov and Kamran Rahmanli, presented their topics: "Reflections on Arabic and Persian Children's Literature" and "Arabic and Arab Children's Literature," respectively. In the presented videos, they provided information about the history, geography, and literature of the mentioned countries, particularly the formation and development of children's literature, and then discussed the development of contemporary children's literature in Arab countries and notable authors. The presentation was made in both Azerbaijani and Arabic languages, with literary examples, including translated fairy tales, stories, and poems, shared with the audience.
After the presentation, the experts shared their opinions and recommendations, wishing the students success in their future endeavors. They also emphasized that the idea proposed by the library is beneficial for young people and recommended continuing this project and collaboration.
At the conclusion of the industrial practice, discussions were held with the participation of the faculty and library leadership regarding the knowledge acquired by the students during their practice, and their activities were evaluated.
At the end of the event, the guests visited an exhibition of books translated from Arabic and Persian.
