Folklore, as one of the key carriers of the rich cultural heritage of the Azerbaijani people, is not only an indicator of national memory but also a priceless treasure that plays a vital role in the spiritual education of future generations. Especially for children, folklore is of great importance in terms of the beginning of their first literary experience, as well as in terms of learning and loving their native language.
For this reason, the Information and Bibliography Department of the Republican Children's Library named after F. Kocharli prepared a webliography entitled “Folklore – A Source of Children's Literature and a Carrier of the Native Language” and made it available to virtual readers.
In the webliography, the bibliographic descriptions and complete texts of ninety books related to oral folk literature are systematically compiled. The main purpose is to present to readers the rich examples of Azerbaijani oral folk literature in a systematic way, to increase children's interest in literature, and to contribute to the promotion and preservation of the native language.
