On May 29, 2025, the final stage of the poetry competition entitled “Bakhtiyar of the Turkic World” was held at the Republican Children's Library named after F. Kocharli, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Bakhtiyar Vahabzade, a prominent representative of Azerbaijani literature and People's Poet.
Students from general education and extracurricular institutions of Baku city participated in the competition. Overall, 60 students applied to the competition that began on April 14. Only 24 of them successfully passed the selection stage and earned the right to participate in the final round. The Director of the Republican Children’s Library, in her speech, expressed gratitude to the students who made it to the final, and highly appreciated their activeness, creativity, and interest in poetry. She emphasized that Bakhtiyar Vahabzade’s creativity plays great significance role not only for Azerbaijani literature but also for the entire Turkic literary world. Afterwards, from the jury, Ilhama Aghazade, PhD in Philology and a member of the Department of Children's Literature at the Nizami Ganjavi Institute of Literature, congratulated the young participants.
The students who participated in the competition were awarded with the "Rainbow" children's magazine, books, diplomas, and certificates of appreciation.
The names of the first, second, and third place winners will be announced and awarded at the “June 1 – International Children’s Day” event held at the CAF (Children’s Art Festival).
During the artistic part of the event, participants recited various poems by the poet.
The main purpose of organizing the competition was to shape the literary and artistic worldview of the younger generation, increase their interest in poetry, and instill love and respect for Bakhtiyar Vahabzade's rich literary heritage.
